Understanding the meaning of ethical hacker ---> There are several types of hackers
1.Black hat hacker
2.White hat hacker
3.Grey hat hacker
An Ethical Hacker is basically a white hat hacker having knowledge of all the network fundamentals and hardware knowledge of a system. An ethical hacker works for the betterment of the society whereas the black hats work for their own selfish reasons and with mentality of doing wrong practises.
STEPS TO BECOME AN ETHICAL HACKER.
1.Know your potential.
Are you really interested in this field ? if yes , then you must be aware of most of the computer fundamentals, and if not start from now.
It is not as easy as people think, an ethical hacker has to be updated each and every time a new technology is arrived. It is not something like engineering or banking ,i.e you learn and just use that knowledge . Ethical hacker is a very logical person who has alternative methods of doing a task.
2..Learning some soft skills.
Soft skills in the sense learning some programming languages to become more knowledgeable about your field.
An ethical hacker tackles with many websites ,scripts,viruses etc. each and every thing is written using one or the other programming languages. So learning them is a must.
a.) In order to understand any websites pattern of working or its internal data you must know languages such as HTML , JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, PYTHON, etc
b) In order to understand any batch file virus or any loop you must know BATCH PROGRAMMING.
c) Hacking and pen-testing is done using linux on a large scale.
linux is an open source operating system and based on command line and less on the side of GUI (graphical user interface).
The best Linux for hacking is KALI LINUX. as it has all the tools for hacking purpose.
3.Gaining knowledge and Certification.
As i have explained in the last blog there is no specific syllabus for hackers, all you can do is learn from internet or join any institute. internet has a wide range of content on hacking , just google it and you are good to go.
4. Testing your knowldege .
Just gaining theorictical knowledge in not enough . Practical is as important as any thing. To be on the safer side try to do the practicals on your own system , like try hacking your own wifi .

Skill polishing means to be updated about the new security bugs, patches, vulnerability, etc.
The more you be updated , the better it is for you. It is such a feild that you have to be keep learning to be aware of latest technology.
